Update on Nicholas
By Naomi Corera, December 14, 2025
In an earlier post we were introduced to Nicholas who is only seven years old. Nicholas could not walk because his lower legs were folded under him in a twisted position. As a result, he was either carried or pulled himself forward. So, we brought him to Kampala and the doctors evaluated him. They believed they could help him and if the parents agreed, they would do a surgery in December.
After speaking with his mother, father and grandmother, they decided to go forward with the surgery and it was scheduled in December. The surgery involved amputating Nicholas’ legs below the knee. Then, the plan is that after his surgical wounds healed, he will be fitted with prosthetics.
The great expectation is that Nicholas have a chance to walk and run like other children… and if you find the previous post about the boys, you will learn when Nicholas met Jonathon and was inspired and motivated to see what could be for himself.

Here we are, having arrived at the hospital, I am helping Nicholas’ father get Nicholas out of the vehicle. His grandmother and teacher also accompanied us to the hospital; unfortunately, his mother was not able to go with us.

Here is Nicholas being held by his father as they leave the vehicle and get checked-in at the hospital.
Here we are at the Hospital as Nicholas’ father carries him into the hospital.
Thank you, Jesus, we walk with you every step of the way.
Nicholas is being a kid! Wheeling himself around the waiting room as he awaits his time to go back into pre-op.
Here is Nicholas enjoying the food with his Dad while they await his time to go into surgery. His grandmother and teacher are also in sight. We see his bed in his room where he will spend the night.
Here, Nicholas is dressed and being escorted to the Operating Theatre.

After the long wait, Nicholas is prepped for his surgery.

Nicholas’ grandmother and I encourage dear Nicholas after his surgery.
He is such a brave boy.
God Bless him.
Smiling Nicholas, showing off his “walking” post-surgery. God Bless him!

And now, Nicholas is being discharged to go home and recover from his surgeries. Once he is healed, he will be fitted with prosthetics which Children Waiting Everywhere will provide for him, just as Children Waiting Everywhere coordinated and paid for this surgery..
The job now, is for the father and grandmother to help him with his recovery. Please pray for them to be diligent in his physical therapy and recovery.
“Thank you” ever so much to help this young child have the opportunity to have a normal life.
When his father decided to go ahead with this surgery, his comment was that he wanted Nicholas to be able to stand upright.
Thanks to all those who pray and donate monies to Children Waiting Everywhere for this ‘miracle’ to happen.
God Bless everyone and Merry Christmas!
